Overview of potential implications that may arise from a special event hosted by a tax-exempt organization, including Form 990 reporting requirements, associated transactions that could result in additional tax filings, and activities that constitute unrelated business income.

Brittney Kocaj

CPA – Senior Manager

Ms. Kocaj is a leader in Crowe’s national tax-exempt practice providing tax compliance and consulting services to healthcare organizations, colleges and universities, membership organizations, and private foundations.  Ms. Kocaj advises clients on a variety of issues including tax reform implications, Section 501(r) compliance, organizational structuring and joint venture arrangements, unrelated business income reporting, alternative investments, etc.  She provides thought leadership and up-to-date advice and assistance with understanding complex tax issues unique to exempt organizations. 





Gina Ardillo, CPA

Tax Senior Staff


Ms. Ardillo has served not-for-profit organizations in both a tax reporting and consulting role and has significant experience in the following areas:Tax compliance: Ms. Ardillo has assisted in preparation of all tax compliance aspects for many 501(c) organizations and private foundations, and is well versed in the IRS Forms 990 and 990-PF.Tax consulting: Ms. Ardillo has researched a significant number of issues affecting not-for-profit organizations, such as unrelated business income tax and tax-exemption issues. Ms. Ardillo has responded to many IRS and state notices on behalf of her clients.Educational seminars: Ms. Ardillo has attended numerous training seminars in both general taxation and specific tax-exemption issues and continues to stay up-to-date regarding changes in the not-for-profit sector.
