Nonprofit organizations are always looking for ways to increase revenues and solicit more funds.  Florida has very specific rules regarding fundraising activities and serious penalties for violations.  Nonprofit organizations must comply with state and federal (IRS) rules for fundraising and solicitation of donations.


This workshop will address:

  • Various fundraising techniques  
  • How to comply with the law
  • Required rules and disclosures

John Foley, Esq., Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County

Mr. Foley has been practicing law since 1988.  He
received his B.A. from the University Of Miami and his J.D. from the University Of Miami School of Law.  Mr. Foley’s practice is limited to representation of nonprofit organizations in all areas of operation with an emphasis on labor and employment, human resources, governance, corporate law and transactional matters.

Mr. Foley runs the Legal Aid Society’s very successful Non-Profit Legal Assistance Project, which has held a prominent position in the Palm Beach County nonprofit community for almost 20 years.  Mr. Foley currently provides in-house counsel services to over 50 local non-profit organizations, and regularly offers pro bono services to dozens more.
