Understanding Financial Health & Planning Ahead in a Time of Uncertainty

In these unprecedented times, nonprofit organizations are experiencing a variety of challenges, including shifting staffing structures, sudden changes in service delivery or capacity, and potential losses across multiple revenue streams. These changes put the financial health and resilience of nonprofits at risk as they navigate the current reality while staying mission focused. This webinar will address critical areas of focus in a time of uncertainty and provide tools that can be used in the short-term.

Adapting Your Finance Office in a Virtual World

Many organizations are quickly adapting to running their organizations in a more virtual world. This sudden shift is particularly challenging to organizations trying to keep financial management processes and controls in place, with a dispersed team working from home.

This webinar will introduce participants to a variety of technology solutions available to organizations to ensure proper controls and improve efficiency with a remote workforce including options for:

  • Paperless workflow for expense management and accounts payable
  • Automated check cutting
  • Technology options for employee time tracking
  • Virtual banking options


Session 3 - June 10th:

Scenario Building & Contingency Planning

While nonprofit organizations cannot predict the future, they can begin to anticipate how they would adjust to a variety of major and minor shifts in their original strategic plans and budgets so that they are equipped to make difficult, complex decisions as financial or human capital crises arise in the months ahead. Building potential scenarios and back up plans can give leaders, their staff, boards, and funders the confidence they need to press on and continue to deliver on programs.

This webinar will address:

  • Guiding principles for successful scenario planning processes
  • Participatory processes organizations can use to weigh options, implications, and trade-offs
  • Questions to consider when accounting for key revenue and expense drivers
  • How to use tools available to undertake scenario planning

Andrea is the Principal for Outsourcing at Fiscal Management Associates, with extensive experience helping nonprofits, individuals, and foundations make important fiscal decisions. A sought-after trainer and speaker, Andrea presents nationwide on a variety of nonprofit financial management topics. 

She is designated a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA®) by the American Institute of CPAs, which demonstrates management accounting expertise, determination and commitment to achieving sustainable business success. She also holds the Certification in Control Self-Assessment (CCSA®) awarded by The Institute of Internal Auditors to practitioners who have proven their knowledge and are able to provide guidance on risk, controls, and business objectives. 

Andrea serves on the Boards of the Ireland U.S. Council, Philanthropy Miami, and the Investment Committee of Social Venture Partners Miami.  She holds an MBA degree from Drexel University and graduated magna cum laude with a BBA from Temple University.
